COTTEN, George Francis. Born in Tucson, AZ to Dennis Miles and Georgia Frances Cotten. After graduating from OU in 1954 with an Engineering degree he served in the U.S. Army as an officer during the Korean War. Married Dale Dunbar, moved to Duncan OK where he developed and designed COTTEN FOREST HILLS, a housing addition, served as President of COTTEN LUMBER and SUPPLY, and COTTEN ENGINEERING while raising his family. Later created COTTEN XPLORATION, an oil and gas company. Married Virginia Blakey and moved to Farmers Branch TX. where he served as President of COTTEN NURSERY, until he retired.

Landing a job as starter/marshal at Brookhaven Country Club he enjoyed his many friends and joined several bands as he had throughout his life, playing jazz everywhere he went and was noted for his precision on the double bass.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Neel, wife Virginia, daughter Christine, and grandson Ivan Cotten. George treasured every day of his life and lived it to it's fullest. Always greeting you as if you were family, welcoming you with his warm smile, bright blue eyes, and huge heart. He leaves behind his son Miles Cotten and wife Randi of Norman OK, Connie Harrell OK. Gwenda Collinsworth Farmers Branch TX and Deborah Harris and husband Richard of Carrollton TX. Two grandsons JJ Cotten and Geoffrey Cotten, three three great-granddaughters, Ally, Jacobi, and Evelyn and super great granddaughter Huxlee who loved rocking in his arms. Countless number of friends and musicians from around the globe. He will be sorely missed.
