PERSONAL MUSIC HISTORY

• Started cornet music lesson at age 7, played in grade school, Junior High and High School bands in Ponca City OK.
• Played for my own enjoyment until about age 30. I didn’t make a conscious decision to quit I just drifted away from it.
• At our 45th HS reunion one of my HS band mates had his trumpet with him and I couldn’t get a note out of it. When I got home I dug out my cornet and sent it off to get it refurbished, after getting some semblance of a lip I told Karen it would be nice to have a band to play in. She found Denton New Horizons Band and I joined in 2008.

• *New Horizons Band Dallas.
• Played with Vintage Jazz Society Dixieland group until it disbanded January 1, 2019.

CAREER/RETIREMENT HIGHLIGHTS

• Spent 8 years in the US Navy.
• Had 3 years of college.
• Worked as an accountant With Merle Norman/Nethercutt Chemical for two years.
• Worked as Chief Cost Accountant with Norris Industries (Manufacturing bathroom fixtures).
• Worked for Kimstock Inc as a plant manager ( fiberglass and marble bathroom fixtures).
• Owned a Convenience store in Ponca City for three years.
• *Became an independent insurance broker in 1980 specializing in Health Insurance for people on Medicare. I haven’t retired and probably won't as long as I am able to continue. I work for myself and enjoy taking care of my clients.

FAMILY

• Wife is Karen and between us we have five children, sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

INTERESTS/HOBBIES

• Gardening, flowers and landscape shrubs and trees. Roses are my favorites and have 40 rose bushes.
• Reading and playing Poker
